Sent Out - Do as Jesus Did
Our mission as disciples of Jesus is to make more disciples. Part of that is talking about the kingdom of God and calling people to rethink their thinking on the matter. The other part is to heal people and serve them. All of it revolves around love. As humans we can get caught up with ego when it comes to being a part of Jesus and living out these roles. There is a real danger for pride. It is true we are endowed with the power of the Holy Spirit and also given the position of ambassadors for Christ, this is amazing. As well, when we help people to become born again disciples and also when we pray and see lives changed, healing happen, or any other movement of supernatural power it is powerful. We have to remain humble and understand we are just servants at the end of the day and have only done our duty.
So what should we take away? Be excited to partner with Jesus and the Holy Spirit in bringing others into the light, to know the truth and to be fellow partakers in the love of God. We should feel a sense of gratitude and also responsibility to this call. There should be a soberness to this responsibility and an urgency to carry it out everyday, especially as we see the Day approaching. There should never come into our minds that we alone have done any of the wonderful things we are a part of but realize that it is the Holy’s Spirits power in us activated through our faith. That we should never allow ourselves to think more highly of ourselves and have pride take us. We should celebrate that more than power or position, the greatest gift we get is presence.
This is what todays lesson is about and has some practicals we can all do as we practice doing as Jesus did.
